ENDGAME PLANS

I'm sure many of you had figured it out already, but it's time for the official announcement. We are about to move into endgame.

Here is a rundown of how things will look over the next month and a half:

August 21st: We will start the event regarding the meeting at Roathus Lagoon. There are three places your characters can be during this event: with the group going to the lagoon for negotiations, with the group going to the Ura camp to protect them, and with the group remaining in the Bastion. A core will be up for grabs during this event.

August 24th (tentatively): The final 'whodunit' post will go up. With all the hints and clues revealed, this will be everyone's chance to stop at least part of the Bad Things that will be happening in the Endgame post. Figuring out the important mysteries (who is 'first son', who has been causing problems in the Bastion, why do these people keep attacking us, what are their plans for the cores) will give your characters advantages that will help make the Good End possible.

September 11th: The final event post goes up. During this event, the characters will find the final core, and any of the Bad Things they have not been able to prevent will happen. Depending on the precautions taken, it is possible to finish this event without a fight. It will be difficult to pull off, but it's possible.

September 18th: The last post for the Bastion goes up. If everyone earned the Bad Ending, then the Bad Ending will happen. If not, the characters will be able to make the final choice as to the fate of the Bastion. This post will run until that choice is made.

The Different Endings:

Please note that the endings themselves have been slightly changed from the video game Bastion, for the sake of providing some surprise for people who have played the game.

Bad End- This is the ending you will get if you fail to solve the mysteries AND fail to stop the Bad Things from happening in the post on September 11th. There are a couple variables that will affect exactly what happens, but all of the PCs will either be dead, stranded on the Skyway with no Bastion, or a mix of both.

Restore End- This is one of the four possible choices for endings to the Bastion. In this ending, the world before the Calamity is restored, and the PCs are sent back in time with their memories intact. There are a few other surprises planned for if this choice is picked.

Evacuate End- Everyone evacuates from the Bastion, and the Bastion goes through emergency procedures. There are a few other surprises planned for if this choice is picked.

Rebuild End- Nate uses the function he made to attempt to create a new planet. Please note that certain special conditions must be met for this ending to be possible. One of them is that Nate must still be alive and physically able to execute the program.

'No Choice' End- Everyone refuses to make a selection, and they live in the Bastion as they are, pumping cores and shards into the Monument to keep the Bastion afloat.

Of the four possibilities besides 'Bad End', they each have a 'Normal End' and a 'Good End', so there are nine possible endings total. The effort the PCs put in during this last month and a half will help decide just what ending the Bastion gets. After the ending is selected, one final post will be made, for PCs to play out the results of their choice.

Finally, we just wanted to say thanks to all of you for sticking with us for so long. This game wouldn't be possible without all of you, and we hope you have been having fun.

As one last 'thank you', we have decided to waive AC for the rest of the game. Have fun, and make this last month a great one!

Hiatus

... for a few days, at least. Heading up north with family tomorrow morning, and I'll be back Friday evening/night. Might take a bit to recover from it since family is... family.

Ryu, AZ, Tobias, and Otoha will just be doing their normal routine. Send me a private plurk (atrypical) if you need to get in touch with me while I'm gone. I'm not totally sure what reception will be like for the first leg of the trip, and on the latter part of the trip I might not have much phone battery.

I'll see you when I get back!

Core Upgrade - discussion

Because of developments in the most recent event, we thought you would like a bit of time to discuss the possible upgrade to the Bastion before we put it to a vote. We still have the suggestions from last time, which are listed below, but we also wanted to see if there is anything in particular you would really like. We will leave the discussion open for a week (Until July 10th), and then we will put up the poll.

These are the options still available from the last poll:

- light beacon to draw people to the Bastion (like a lighthouse)

- upgraded communication that can be used on the Skyway

- upgrade to the farm (for milk-based products, plus auto-canning)

If you have an idea for something else, please comment to this post with it, and we can discuss the possibility of including your idea as an option on the poll that will be posted next week.

So it has been an absolutely beautiful, wonderful, amazing time here. Crona was in the Bastion for two hundred and sixty two incredible IC days, and saw lots of changes and made and lost lots of friends and crushed on every girl and adopted a squirt and learned how to speak dragon and cried and laughed and freaked out and been happy.

But basically since I joined this game I've known Crona wasn't going to make it to endgame. And so Crona didn't.

If anyone wants to take responsibility for Crona's pet Squirt, they can do that (it's terrible at floating and likes pie and is shy of everyone who isn't Crona) but otherwise just feel free to use the Squirt for hijinks and idk stealing food from kitchens and making grumpy sounds at pokemon or something. Crona's ... twelve thousand shards can go into the shard bank, get yourselves something nice or ICly argue over them or something fun. No cute goodbye notes for anybody because Crona wasn't planning on this being goodbye.

oocly I'm totally hanging around to stalk all of you until endgame because I've been with this thing since before the beginning and I can't wait to see how it ends. It's been a fantastic time!

Event signups!

Greetings! We have a couple quick announcements, and then we will move on to event details.

First off, as per the votes, the new upgrade to the Bastion is a defensive shield, to keep monsters and such out of the Bastion. Any residents wearing an amulet will have no trouble coming in or out, but without an amulet the only way in is if someone with an amulet is kind enough to hold your hand and drag you in.

Secondly, we just wanted to remind everyone of an option you have: if, for whatever reason, you end up dropping from the Bastion, we can work your drop into the game storyline! Just let us know when you are about to drop, and we can work something in. This doesn't have to be a character death, either: there are a few options for dropping that we haven't disclosed because of plot reasons, but if you come to us about it we can share that information with you and see if you are interested. Just PM the mod journal, or send a plurk message to the mods.

Finally, it's time for some event information!

Helloooooo so I'm sure those of you I play with frequently have probably noticed how flaky I have been with tagging for the past however long. I'm realizing that my stress levels are crazy high right now and I need to do some things to take care of myself. So, I talked with the boyfrando and we decided we were going to drop Shing and Kohaku. This leaves me with two characters who I know for sure are working with the setting in some way and will be easier for me to tag with.

In addition, I'm going to take a hiatus for a month (I'll probably be tagging a little bit here and there to make sure I fulfill AC reqs), and take care of myself a little bit so that I can come back afterwards and be good to go with tagging and everything. (Modtypes, I'll be available for modtype things that come up, so don't hesitate to contact me for modthings!)

I'm sorry to those of you who I've been tagging with. I know I'm super flaky, and I really appreciate that you guys are so understanding. I'm hoping the hiatus and less of a character load will be good for me.

ALRIGHTY, SO. I have...done this several times in my journal-RP career thus far but I still feel nervous as heck every time. Less so this time, but there's always the hope that I'm doing it right...

So, introductions! I am Sol, and I'm bringin' in this lady here. OVA continuity is her basis, but I slipped in a few extra things and I'll likely be playing her somewhat differently from the common portrayal. (Her app's got the big meat but basically - don't expect a hero, very much a loose cannon, etc.)

Jeni and Leia are basically how I got here - mainly because that one fateful Plurk talking about the last app cycle pushed me to jump in. And this is really only the second formal journal game I've ever been a part of; it's been gameboxes and memes all the rest of the time, and I'd not even gotten that involved in the first game before leaving it, so... I might have to get used to things and I might misstep. Hopefully I won't break anything. :'D

(Slipping in just under the wire, too; Shooter's supposed to be here on day 307 and if I read the calendar right this's the last RL day for it. After posting this it'll be on to the IC post, and I'm considerably more nervous about that.)

With all that said, I look forward to many good times here. :)

So I dropped off the face of the Bastion basically... march. And that was a really dumb thing for me to do because I needed full AC and I kept putting off "Oh I ought to haitus, oh but I can look at the comms and get an idea" and.. ended up not. At all.

I think I discovered that "endgame soon" announcements kill my drive :x

So I am really sorry, but I'm gunna go. Duke is sticking around running that training hall, Anna will be cute in the pokehouse, and Moon flew off somewhere.

She's a Manakete, which means sometimes she's a giant motherfucking dragon, and most times she looks like a twelve-year-old girl but, like, with dragon wings. She's quiet and shy and very lonely—all she really wants is to be accepted and treated as a normal girl so she can make friends.

Hey there, Bastion! I'm Remaix, a complete newbie to this game.

I'm bringing in Byakuya Togami from Dangan Ronpa, a.k.a. that one weird game where a sadistic bear tells a bunch of high school students to go kill each other. And thus the halls of said school are stained with pink blood forever because seriously guys can we please stop killing each other for one chapter guys come on. It's one giant lesson in why we can't have nice things.

All you need to know about Togami is that he's a rich, prideful, elitist asshole with a very punchable face. Seriously, this guy's not gonna have a lot of friends, he can't go a single conversation without insulting someone. He's coming in from the very end of the first game, meaning there will be major spoilers. So if you don't want those, just let me know.

Anyway! My plurk is over at remaix, so if you want to add me there, go right ahead! Annnnd that's about it. Looking forward to playing with you all!

Hello, Bastion! My name is Lysoke and I'm bringing in this little guy from Digimon's third season: Tamers. Impmon isn't very tall, he probably doesn't come up higher than your knee, but he's loud and fluctuates from 'occasionally obnoxious' to 'always obnoxious,' depending on his mood. He's prideful and a little arrogant, but not as bad as he used to be before his heel-face turn.

Impmon is coming not only from after the series, but after it's subsequent movie, so he's a good guy who fights the good fight and protects people, but he'll turn right around and insult and be a jerk to those same people if he feels like it; he's your typical anti-hero.

Now, he doesn't look like much When he's Impmon, but when he digivolves, he skips straight to Mega level (because he's a special snowflake who ignores the rules) and turns into Beelzemon who is exactly the same as Impmon except +100 confidence and if you call him Impmon, he'll get offended.

Okay so yeah this is your Jenimod here, bringing in her fourth and final with the ending of the app cycles. This lovely pink lady is Rose Quartz, the (former) leader of the Crystal Gems from the totally-just-for-kids show Steven Universe!

Seriously.

It's totally for kids.

Really.

That's why I've cried tons of times watching it.

BUT ANYWAY. For those not familiar with the canon, Steven Universe is a show about aliens on earth, protecting earth from other aliens that... are actually the SAME race of aliens. Because rebellion is cool? idk. The actual canon takes place after Rose is already gone for spoilerific reasons, and of course focuses on her son Steven instead. The episodes are only 11 minutes long each but there's two seasons right now and it's some pretty damn great stuff for being on Cartoon Network.

Rose will be popping in on day 304, and I will have an intro for her up soon!

Meet Mitellux, hailing from a world dominated by dragons after fighting a hard and long war against the humanoids. Mitellux herself is a veteran of said war, and... well, she might have issues with most of you just for being human shaped. But she can be reasoned with! Tread lightly!

Also, she's replacing the originally planned boss fight for the current core hunt expedition! Have fun with that!

Hey guys. This was a hard decision to make, but it's becoming clear that I really don't have the time or energy for journal RP right now, so it's time for me to let go. For now I need to concentrate on my degree and stuff. I'm sad that this means I'll miss endgame, but there's nothing for it.

This drop affects Aradia. I am so sorry to all her CR. You guys are wonderful and I'll still be pestering you on Plurk ~~as much as I ever do~~. It's been great fun!

Updated Calendar + Modly announcement

We have updated the calendar, so it is now showing March and April's schedule. The calendar can be found here. Normally we don't make a post to the OOC comm about updating the calendar, but this is a special exception. We mods have decided that April will be the last month we will be accepting applications.

But don't panic! This doesn't mean that the game is closing at the end of April. It's just that, as many of you might have been able to guess, we will be reaching endgame sometime this year. We decided that it would be best to close apps well before we hit endgame, because with the 3:1 day ratio it can be very difficult to get CR if we close apps closer to the actual endgame. Our hope is that, by having our last app round be early on, everyone who apps in will have plenty of time to gain CR and enjoy playing at the Bastion before the game ends.

So if you have been holding off on apping someone, be sure to app them soon. Our last app cycle will be on April 25th.

Hi everyone!

I'm Ashka and I'm brand new here. I'm bringing you Libertà from Arcana Famiglia. Arcana Famiglia is an otome game about magical mafia, but Libertà himself seems more like a shonen protagonist. xD He's reckless, not exactly the smartest, but he's also friendly, optimistic and he wishes to become a hero. Oh, and he loves the sea and is the contractor of the Fool Arcana. He doesn't use his powers though, because I took him from the beginning of the game.

Anyway, my plurk is ashka_chan so feel free to friend me :)
